Maze Start

So we have the second games for NCAA Football and the first games in Wilk. I think we can all agree the Wilk games are by far the more important games. Everyone is invested in those more than the real life games. We have had a few good real life games and a few more to come as well. Hopefully this Maze will keep you company as you wait for the NFL to kick off tomorrow and also maybe just put a smile on you face if you team lost today.

We are going to look at the coaches who are at new teams. We are going to look at the game they just played and the results and also what is expected of them by the Maze. The first game involves Maryland under the leadership of PhilFulmer98. His Terrapins took on DePaul who are also under new management. The Maryland boys under their new coach got off to a great start they won their first game with their new coach. The expectation for them is that they win all their non conference games and then pick up some loses in conference play. I think this year there is no pressure on PhilFulmer98 as it is his first year but he has promised that in 3 or so seasons his team will be on the sharp end of things. On the other side as mention earlier we had DePaul with their new coach, mitt0108. He takes over from genuvar so you know he has a decent squad at his disposal. From the game it seems as if he needs to stiffen up the defense a bit, actually both teams need to do so. I think DePaul starts off 2-3 for the year and then gets into that gauntlet of a conference schedule. This will not be a good start to the mitt0108 reign.

New coach at Florida State and it seems the same result. The new coach at the helm has started his reign with a loss. Coach badaxe lost to the new Colorado coach. Everyone's favorite redhead, cjsweat. This was a battle of the new coaches and the redhead won. The game was not even close, the Seminoles put up some yards but not points. The redhead managed to stop the FSU passing game and also get his going. I think the Rams might be okay with the redhead at the helm. Coach badaxe will need some time to get things going with his new team. Things are tough for him, from the recruiting in Florida and the conference. I bet FSU goes into conference play 4-1 whilst the Rams go into conference play 3-2. cjsweat managed to use a mixture of badaxe and lyonzfan37 players to beat badaxe.

Coach genuvar with his new charges at North Carolina managed to clobber Montana and their coach flippen. The coach just managed to take them out to the back and just give it to them out the gate. Everything was working for his team unlike the real life North Carolina team who started okay against Louisville but then faded. With this result I think it is safe to say genuvar can take any team and just win as if he has been there for a while. The rest of his OOC schedule looks tasty. He has some legends of the game in his path and I think he wins 3 of the remaining 4 OOC games, 2 of them will be close, which two? I leave that to you to decide. Be on the look out for the Shotgun and Pro Set formations from this UNC team.

Coach trmcco2 takes over a new squad after getting fired from UNC. With is new squad he gets to a terrible start, double the points loss to PItt and bjschumacher. This has been a Sim AI team for the last 3 seasons after cjsweat left them. From looking at the remaining OOC games they start the season 3-2. Which is not bad at all considering this is his first year after taking over from the Sim AI. I know this, he will not be getting fired this season and he might be around at the team for a while if his record of sticking around is to be believed from his stay at UNC.

New coach in Miami and bad start to the season. Though I would not have put money on him in his first game with the team. Coach da_goat was made not to look like a GOAT by blitziscomin. He does that to a lot of coaches though so that's no surprise. Seeing da_goat at Miami(FL) kinda surprised everyone, nobody looked at his roster when there was speculation of who might get the job. Looking at the OOC I think the start of da_goat's reign will be a 1-4 start. I would not be surprised either if this is the season were their conference dominance is broken. Nothing against the coach but I know how tough it is at a new team. I hope he proves me wrong.

The man, the myth, the legend beats the man, the myth, the legend. The Cornhuskers under coach jasonfreeman beat Louisville under coach ozzzball19. Barely beat him, 3 point win. It's a win no matter what. Louisville should consider themselves unlucky, they moved the ball better than Nebraska and managed to accumulate more yards. That does not mater if you can not score points after moving the ball. I think the Cornhuskers will finish the OOC 5-0 under new leadership and on the other side the Louisville boy under coach ozzzball19 will finish their OOC 3-2 if I am being optimistic. Thy have a tough OOC, tougher than Nebraska in my book. All 13 games will be against human coaches who know how to win games and that is a tough way to start life at a new team.

New team and great start to get things going for coach bullfrog333. H started with a gimmie, a Sim AI coached team. I think they start the year 3-2 and then get into the teeth of their schedule. The other new coach who is starting his reign against a Sim AI team is coach gt_deuce taking over at UConn. I think he will be able to win all his OOC games before the fun begins in conference play. Coach gt is a studly coach and I think he will throw his weight around in the conference and bring back some respect to the UConn program. Another coach with an easy start to the their reign is coach paulsuberlak at Wisconsin. They finish the OOC 3-2 is the worst case scenario in my book before a tough conference schedule. Usually you expect to win a game against a Sim AI team but this was not the case for the first year coach at Western Michigan. Coach ejumper lost his game against a Sim AI team. He is taking over a rebuild which kinda makes sense but still I think he should have own the game. With is return to Wilk coach cebrake managed to get the best start to his reign at Cal. He is taking over a loaded roster left behind by jasonfreeman. The expectation is that he will carry on from were jasonfreeman left. I think he starts his conference play with a record of 3-2, who does he lose to? You figure it out, I just give you the record, well at least today.

Coach tampafla picks up from were he left off last season. He beats the brakes off Akron and their new coach, your truly huskerfan26. I know I tell you guys every time that I do not know what I am doing and here is the proof of that. I think coach tampa starts the season off 5-0 and then drops a few games i the conference play. My start is a sign of things to come. Lack of wins from a coach who has no idea what he is doing. I will start the season 3-2 before getting pummeled in conference play. I know I am a step down from coach gt_deuce but I will give it my best.

When will we see the juggernaut take shape at South Florida under coach ebel331? I say give him a season or two and he will be rolling with that Shotgun formation. He lost to a team and coach who are set in their ways. Things will not get easier for ebel, though I think he likes it that way. No easy games for him this year. I know he is taking over a team that was human coached I still expect a tough year for the Bulls and tier new coach. The recently minted national champion in Hayes coach lsusaint takes over at Memphis and gets to great start with a win against North Texas. This should be a great start to the year as he only has one human coach left on his OOC schedule. I think dominance of the conference will be between him and the new Houston coach. Coach truedevil33 takes over from ebel and he starts off with a win. Not just a regular win but a win against Pete's Hawaii. I hope you treasure that second half comeback, TD. Way to go.

Things will not get better for the Georgia Bulldogs and their new coach dapope21. The OOC is no joke. It is the kind of schedule you do not want to start your reign with, well at least I don't. It was a tough start to be matched up with the defending National Champs. Luckily you do not have to worry about awags this season, unless you both make it to the CC. Win by a point or by 100 it all counts as a W in Wilk and you should be happy with it. Coach jjl58 got his reign at the Midshipmen on the right foot. I am sure the boys were happy with a win even though it was by a single point. I think this is the first of many wins but not in this year's OOC for you.
