OOC Roundup Maze
How about them comments from ebel. I hope everyone took note, experiment and find what works for you. Coach ebel thanks for those words of wisdom. We have a few more words of wisdom coming your way this season Maze runners. For today though we are going to talk about the OOC roundup as mentioned in the headline. We do not do click bait here.
We are going to talk about what we have just witnessed in the first 5 games. We might throw some predictions out there too. You know I enjoy being wrong, so why not. First, we gonna talk about Florida State. They started the season 5-0 but they only played Sim AI, so that does not tell us much. We should start knowing what they are made of tonight with their first human coach. I am sure they will finish the season with a winning record this year and maybe a bowl game too. I expect them to fair better in the human coached matchups as the coach is now in his third season and has had a bit of time to put together a good system. I think next year is when we should expect a lot out of the team.
Are the Sooners back at it again? Yes, they are. They are looking mighty. They have knocked off some great coaches and I am sure they will knock off more. I expect them to go undefeated. I smell a title for the Sooners this year, well at least I expect them to be sniffing around the game. Colorado has had a great OOC, I know they lost a single game. The loss was against a coach trying to save his job, coaches like that are like an injured animal being cornered and you know how that goes. I think Colorado has two big games left and they will determine whether the season is a success for them or not. The other team I always have my eye on in the Big 12 are the Longhorns. They have a loss on their resume already and I think they are out of the national title game already. I know we are only 5 games in but they have the Cornhuskers and Sooners left. They have had issues with the Sooners in recent memory and with that in mind my money is on the Sooners. I think Texas might have to go through a bit of a rebuild to really put themselves in a position to compete for a national title. I expect a lot out of Texas and that is why it seems like I am coming down hard on them but I have too much respect for the coach and program.
The bloodbath that is the Big East conference play is about to begin. Going in we have The ‘Cuse under coach z32fanatic as favorites for the conference title. They came through a testing OOC and go into a testing conference schedule. Pitt had their usual cake walk in OOC, the have only faced Sim AI teams the last two seasons in OOC. I am not too worried about them making a run at the national title game as their SOS takes a hit from that OOC schedule and they have losses around the corner in their conference. Is da_goat about to show the GOATNESS on display? They have had a good start to the season. I think it is about time we see what the GOATNESS is all about. The coach has had enough time to put together a program to compete, maybe only for a conference title this year. Coach genuvar and DePaul, are in my view thus far ahead of schedule. They had a great start to the season and the test continues for them with their conference games. I did not expect DePaul to be this good so early in the process of a rebuild, I think that just shows how good the coach is. The real test is about to begin for Cinci and I hope they are ready for the test.
Awags should get a cookie, he did what many people have tried to do for two seasons. I am not sure how I feel about what you did though awags, I was hoping for a hat-trick of national titles. I am going to say the Wolverines will not be able to defend their title this year. Wisconsin are doing okay with the sanctions. What did the coach do? Tell everyone so that they do not follow in your footsteps. The Irish and the Buckeyes start off the season undefeated but not all undefeated starts are created equal. The Buckeye undefeated season is worth more in my book. I guess the Irish coach knew he needed a few easy games to get some wins to help save his job and a few tough ones to help with the SOS. Might this be the year for Penn State to make a run for some silverware? There has been rumors of the coach leaving for a while now and maybe he is just waiting to go out with some silverware.
Central Florida you are looking good right about now but I think you might be found out by your fellow conference mates. I still expect Memphis to come out of your division even though they have a losing record right now. UAB you are also looking good but similarly I still expect Houston to come out of your division. You had two tough games and you came through them well, 57-10 combined points. Houston 2-2 in their Big 12 challenge, not too bad. The Sooners kind of blew you out but the Colorado game was respectable score wise. The future for Houston still looks bright.
So maybe Buffalo might be for real. Last year there were questions if they were for real or not, but with them coming back again and looking good I think they are for real. I think coach babcick has found a groove for himself. His Kent State squad is looking good this year, they might challenge for a ticket to represent the division in the conference title game. Coach gt_deuce lost to a Sim AI, I am concerned but not worried yet. I know it’s the first season with the team but my expectations are high for the coach. Bowling Green looking good but I think they will come down to earth once the conference play starts. Ball State my money is on you to represent the West division in the MAC title game.
Everyone has at least a single defeat in the PAC-10. Usually the Trojans and the Golden Bears are undefeated until they face each other but not this year. I still have my money on both making the PAC-10 title game. Stanford looks good but they play both giants in their conference and I think that will knock them out of the running. Arizona has a good record going into the conference play granted they played Sim AI teams mainly but you still have to show up and beat them. Washington should be a bit more of a problem for Cal this year I suspect, more time for the coach to mold the team as he likes.
I know he played 4 Sim AI teams but I think it is safe to say he is back at it again, coach treyomo looking good again. He is going to throw his weight around again and try to get into the mix of the national title game. He would be coming from very far back, being that he is ranked 23 at the time of the piece. I expect the Vols to be there or there about in their conference and that’s it, no national title run for them this year. The Gators need to get it together and become relevant in the national title conversation again. This year might not be the year for it though. I like the way the coach schedules, I think they just need to win those games and they are back in it. They won it recently though it feels like ages ago. Awags this is the year we expect you to make a run at the national title, you have had enough time to get setup in Alabama and now we expect silverware. I am sure there will be a team in the national title game with a defeat and it might be you.
Louisiana Monroe is a win away from their total wins last year and we are only 5 games into the season. Great scheduling Sim AI teams in a rebuild. That is my ploy when I am in a rebuild. Need to get those easy wins under my belt. Middle Tennessee also had 5 Sim AI teams, not sure why, the coach has been there a while and I am sure he has established a good program for himself to go out and challenged other human coaches. Coming off a conference title I would have expected that he would want to challenge himself a bit more through the OOC.
Look out people, Hawaii is clicking now and they are looking good. I think this might be the year where they win the conference and make some noise in the rankings. They won’t make a national title run but they will finish the season ranked. Utah is looking good again and I think they have designs on making another conference title game. This year I suspect they won’t get it again.
So that was a lot of rumbling about this and that. I warned you guys ages ago that I rumble a lot and I just wanted to remind you with this piece. This season we are going to hear from a few more coaches instead of just me rumbling so be on the lookout for that. But until then take it easy.
