Jabbering JAG 131.10 (What's Out There)

Congratulations to all of our national champions in Wilkinson for season 131! We had some very nice games for your entertainment and all of them ended being close except for DIA. In our national championship I really thought, "wow no one saw this coming" in the third quarter but nitros and his offense said not so fast as they finished the game with 28 unanswered points to lock up a 10-point victory (which was the margin of victory I had predicted). I did expect defenses to hold up a little better than they did but still a fantastic game. Even with four turnovers TSU still put up over 600 yards of offense. Maine was again pretty efficient on offense but the late fumble in their own end ended up hurting the Black Bears dearly.

I wanted to use my final write up of the season to post what I think are the best jobs in each conference. I know that the coaching carousel talks about the best overall jobs available but I thought I would go and look at them conference by conference. Now keep in mind this is before any humans have moved/left so those jobs would obviously be better options than these.

A10 (finished #6 conference)

Northeastern/Umass - both teams are historically very successful programs and that is because of the prime recruiting grounds. The Northeast has emptied a little bit in recent years so now is a perfect time to snag one of these rebuilds and be able to bring in talent pretty quickly.

Big Sky (finished #2 conference)

Weber State - No where really in the Big Sky is going to be in a super fertile recruiting ground other than Sam Houston but with so much competition in TX I gave the edge to WSU. This program is mostly geographically isolated from other DIAA, only NAU around and then a couple of DIA programs fairly close so with some broad net casting in recruiting WSU could be very viable.

Gateway (finished #5 conference)

ANY Illinois School - Southern Illinois had been a very formidable team under hitman. This recruiting area is pretty fertile and you only have to worry about a couple of schools in Ohio and Iowa to recruit against. The MAC will constantly be on your back but if you recruit wisely you will be successful here.

Ivy (finished #8 conference)

Harvard - A recent human team in a fantastic recruiting area. Tmburton had turned this team into something very appealing and they are still salvageable. Plus the Ivy only has three humans so success can be found quite rapidly here.

MEAC (finished #10 conference)

East Division - There are actually several options in the nation's lowest ranked conference. I chose two teams in the East division that could probably be quick fixes. Duquesne and La Salle both had human coaches recently and both are in pretty viable recruiting areas. This conference also only has four humans so winning and competing for CC could happen pretty quickly.

NEC (finished #7 conference)

Georgetown - A school that often finds success in other worlds and with Duquesne currently open here you have free reign over the DC area. This would be quite a rebuild here but with this recruiting area and only a few other human coaches in the conference you could be competitive within a couple seasons.

OVC (finished #1 conference)

Southeast Missouri - Another Midwest school who was left to the SIM. Some solid players still on the roster here and you have a relatively isolated recruiting geography here. Also you play in the nation's most difficult conference so the amount of bowl money that you get would help you push your weight around in recruiting.

PFL (finished #4 conference

Drake - I really like the recruiting area of Valparaiso but lets be honest the talent left on this roster from hatroq is definitely going to put the Bulldogs as a top priority to fill for the PFL. This team has been successful for quite some time so even with UNI in the same state, the Midwest is open enough and has enough talent to help you return this team to a stacked roster and compete season in and season out.

SoCon (finished #9 conference)

Furman - Now I know some people are going to disagree with this one. Here is why I chose Furman. A team that would be the only one in SC plus you are more inland than most of the other schools in the state so you can reach into recruit-rich states like TN, KY, GA, AL pretty easily if you play your cards right. This conference is going to be a powerhouse in a couple seasons as they have some very good coaches, so get in and stake your claim before it's too late.

SWAC (finished #3 conference)

Mississippi Valley State/Arkansas PB - These two teams are in pretty solid recruiting areas. With LA, TX and AL having teams they are kind of sandwiched in between those schools but you would have a monopoly on your respective state… states that DO produce some solid recruits. Plus this conference has great coaches who will help bring in lots of playoff money.
