Coach Jeff's Office
Hello all!! First off, let me introduce myself. I'm jeffc7823, coach of the West Georgia Wolves. Some of you may know me as the underachieving D2 coach that hangs around in the chat for all the podcasts. Anyway, with all the new D2 content that's coming out I figured I would try this blog thing out as well.
For my first blog series I thought doing a D2 coaching carousel update would be a lot of fun. The job change period is one of the most exciting times in the Wilkinson calendar and there are always good teams that become available at D2 as great coaches move up. So my plan is to do a post every day of the job change period with an update on jobs that have opened and been filled at the D2 level. Also, I will provide my commentary on how the coaching change may alter the D2 landscape as a whole. For instance, last season GT taking over Henderson State was very significant. Henderson was good before with Z32, but after the change you had to go into the game with a new outlook based on the innovative all-pass offense GT uses.
To whet the appetite right off the bat, let's discuss a couple of rumored job openings before job changes even begin...
Slippery Rock - Awags has discussed that he is leaving Slippery Rock due to not wanting to have two user names in Wilk after Tiger-gate. Based on that, we will likely see this job come open as soon as it rolls over. For those that don't know, this is an elite roster/program at the D2 level. Awags has it set up to be all-pass from the ND Box. Any coaches wanting to run that style at D2, should go after this one.
Northwood - Philfulmer98 (writer of the new D2 blog "The Volunteer") has stated that he is 50/50 on moving up for season 130. If he does move up, Northwood was the #6 GUESS rated roster and made to the D2 semi-finals in season 129. Philfulmer has employed a balanced attack from Pro-set and Trips while at Northwood and form IQ has been built up for those formations. This is one to keep an eye on if Phil does decide to move up.
Thanks for reading guys! Hope you enjoyed! We will discuss the first wave of moves tomorrow!
