It has been a busy weekend for me. I have been under the weather and it was the wife's birthday.
An early look at some of the top performers so far and see who we think has a chance to go undefeated the remainder of the season. All of these programs are 2-0 against human competition through the first two weeks.
Jacksonville State - Off to a great start but the team hasn't won more than 12 games in a season since season 119. The team always seems to be just a game or two away from having a breakout season and with EIGHT humans still to play on the season I think the JSU Gamecocks will struggle to finish undefeated.
Youngstown State - Always a powerhouse in Wilkinson and this team is loaded. This team only has FOUR more human opponents on the season before they cruise to a CC appearance against a bunch of sims. They still have some very tough tests coming up but I think the YSU Penguins finish the season undefeated.
Northern Iowa - I really love what babcick has done in just his second season and with two impressive wins already he looks to keep this team rolling. UNI still has SIX human opponents but with how this team is coached and the talent they have, most of those are manageable. The UNI Panthers will have to have some luck to finish undefeated.
Eastern Illinois - The defending champs have started right where they left off. This team still looking for that first "signature" win and they will have plenty of opportunities to get that. With EIGHT humans remaining on the schedule the EIU Panthers will have to play lights out to finish undefeated on the season.
Alabama A&M - This team from the SWAC is always competitive but usually remains in the shadows. This team has only made it to the third round once in recent history but has performed well during the regular season as of late. There are FIVE humans remaining for A&M on the schedule and the Bama A&M Bulldogs have a very good shot to finish the regular season 13-0.
Drake - CJ's favorite to win the title this season hasn't disappointed through two games. This team has always been well coached and competitive as they haven't finished outside the top 10 under hatroq. With FOUR humans left for the Drake Bulldogs I think the chances that they go undefeated are extremely good.
