Signing Maze Vol. 2
Back at it again with the second volume (You thought i was gonna say with the white vans). As promised, today we finish up the remaining conferences and again this is at the time this was written, so it might not be accurate when you read it. Why are you late getting to reading this? Huh? Come on now.
Let us start off with the Big East. This conference is packed with coaches, there are only 2 Sim AI teams, yes you read that right there are only 2 Sim AI teams. There are not only human coaches but good human coaches, so you know the competition is stiff in this conference. With the stiff competition you know you have to get yourself good players. Recruiting takes an extra importance I think in this conference as you can not afford a bad class.
Temple, Pittsburgh, Rutgers have done their jobs and now they can join LSU in the gulf were they can enjoy some fishing with an alcoholic concoction in hand. The only question is how good are the classes when it is all said and done. Some coaches have told me that it is more important to fill your class because whatever you get is better than the walk-ons, whilst others have told me get the studs and take on a few walk-ons as the studs will carry your team than the full class. I have no idea who is right, if you know please do share that information. Syracuse has to get a few more guys in to consider this recruiting season a good one. UConn also needs to try and get some bodies in because right now they are sitting on a big goose egg, unless it is a strategy. Louisville with a new coach without bowl money has done a decent enough job but they could need maybe 4 more bodies to have a good recruiting season. This conference might be up there with their recruiting numbers.
Conference USA has some good coaches who are spread all over the country a bit, so they do not have to worry about battling for recruits. The schools though are in states where there are BCS schools and elite schools which might not help when it comes to recruiting blue chip guys. With that said they still manage to get some good guys.
All the schools have managed to get the majority of their guys with TCU filling their class. Given that they are in Texas that is not much of a surprise, there are plenty of recruits in Texas, though there are a lot of schools in Texas. The other schools only need to get a handful of guys and their classes will be filled, which is good news. With these close to full and full classes this might be a good year for the conference in their non conference games as they will have talent to compete and also I would keep an eye out once the conference play starts, to see how it goes as I expect a lot of competition.
It is the return of the MAC. They are doing a good job at filling their classes. The conference is not very populated, it is majority Sim AI. The coaches should be able to stack up them wins like it ain't nothing.
Buffalo has managed to fill their class early because I think they want to go somewhere with some sun at this time of year. Central Michigan has managed to almost fill a big class and I think they need to share what their secret is in doing so. Northern Illinois needs to step it up a bit, they have only gotten half their class at this point. The other teams just need a few guys and they should be up and running.
The Sun Belt has 6 human coaches and 6 Sim AI coaches. Of the 6 human coaches 3 have done a decent job of recruiting. Again with the coaches here they are all over the country so they do not have to battle over recruits. This is good as I think they would be battling for the sub blue chip guys.
Army has managed to get all but 3 of their 22 guys and again I think they should share the secret to getting so many recruits for such a big class. New Mexico, North Texas, Idaho need to get cracking because as you can see above. These 3 teams are located in areas that are not fully stocked with talent worth spending money on but then again that talent might be better than the walk-ons they will get if they do not fill their classes.
The WAC is definitely not wack this recruiting season. The 5 coaches have managed to do a good job of getting some talent for their teams. There are 2 coaches who have been in the conference for a while now and I am guessing they know exactly what kind of talent it takes to win in the conference.
Boise State with their second year coach have managed to fill their class which is something I do not think I ever managed to do, then again I am not that good at any part of this game. Wyoming needs just a single player and they will have filled their class. San Jose only have half a class and need to step on that gas paddle and get a few more bodies in. The other coaches have done a good job getting bodies in but the only question is how good are the bodies they brought in.
Now that we have managed to look at all the conferences and seen who has done a good job and who needs to step it up I think this might help with determining which battles to really get involved in for the coaches. We still have a few more days to get bodies in, so there is still time for those who need more guys on their rosters. Good luck in them battles fellas and GO PATS.
