CJ's QB Camp Top 10
Welcome to CJ's QB Camp! During recruiting, I'll be discussing the top 10 QB's in 1A, and the top
10 QB's projected to go to 1AA.
1. James Rivers -
In a fairly weak QB class, genuvar found a player that is going to be really valuable to his offense. What I love about Rivers is that he has no real weakness. He's strong, has solid GI and solid Tech. Pitt uses Trips and Shotgun, so it's important to find a QB that has the proper STR and Tech to make longer throws. Additionally, Rivers' ATH is rated at 62, so he won't be very susceptible to sacks.
Grade: A-
2. Stanley King -
Even though Rivers may be the best QB in this class now, Stanley King may become the better player. With a WE at 59, his future will come down to his potential. STR is at 74, GI is at 74 and ATH is 63. The only weakness comes with TECH, which is a true weakness considering the Scarlet Knights utilize I-formation and Pro-Set. However, if King is a high potential player, that TECH will grow just fine over the next four seasons. Grade: A-
3. Larry Clayton -
Clayton certainly isn't a bad QB, but I was hesitant to rank him this high. While I value GI and TECH more than others, STR is still important and 55 is a little low for my taste....especially considering the fact that his WE is only 39. Even with above average potential, unless you can get Clayton early playing time, that STR rating isn't going to improve significantly.
Grade: B+
4. Rafael Massey -
Just like Stanley King, Massey's value may rise due to development. He'll be the second QB on the roster, so, he can certainly see early playing time during garbage time. He doesn't do anything great, but he has no weaknesses (except for his GPA). He's a perfect fit for this Notre Dame offense and could certainly be a force to reckon with if his potential allows.
Grade: B+
5. Steven Foster -
Foster gets a high rating because he's a perfect fit for this offense. The Golden Gophers run a balanced offense that utilizes a lot of underneath throws. Foster has 81 ATH (no sacks), and 85 GI (no interceptions). The STR rating is a little concerning, so I don't think you will see many explosive plays. However, that high GI will make him capable of putting together long drives and prevent him from turning it over. I think this is a player who could develop well and succeed in a great fitting offense.
