These two teams have played for the last 5 Big Sky championships. The games are always close despite the fact that NAU has a 43-1 conference record over the last 5 seasons. That one loss was for the conference championship where NAU blew a 21 point lead in the 4th quarter. Coach mraston has nightmares about that.

The previous matchup this season was a 16-13 win by NAU which was really anyone's ball game. Expectations were more of the same for this game between the Lumberjacks and the Mustangs.

NAU cam out of the gates on fire scoring the first 23 points on the way to a 33-14 halftime lead. The 2nd half was more of the same as the Lumberjacks forced two interceptions in the 2nd half and dropped a 34 point 3rd quarter. Final score NAU - 73 Cal Poly - 21

The game ball goes to the trio of NAU Jrs: QB Donald Robinson who threw for 402 yards and 3 TD's, RB Marvin Whitehead who rushed for 163 yards and 4 TD's, and Sr. WR Ronald Gray who caught 5 passes for 141 yards and 3 TD's.
