The Final Four

We are very near to finding out not only who will play for the national championship but also who we will crown our next National Champion. We have quite the loaded field in this season's final four. All of these coaches and teams are definitely deserving of their spot in the semi-finals. Two of the teams in the field have made it this far or further in the playoffs each of the last 3 seasons. The other two this will be their first time reaching this point in the last 3 seasons. Four different conferences are represented in the remaining field. Memorial Day may be over but the fireworks still aren't. I think we should have some very fun games to watch over the next 24 hours.

N-#1 Northern Iowa vs S-#4 Central Connecticut

Scoring Offense: UNI - #5 vs CCSU - #8

Scoring Defense: UNI - #6 vs CCSU - #4

Coach Matchup: jddriscoll (1-0) mikesy

Analysis: These teams clearly appear very even when you compare the scoring/scoring allowed stats. The one major, glaring difference. CCSU has played the 96th ranked SOS whereas UNI has played the #1 SOS. All of that is just gravy now though as both of these teams have marched through some tough competition to get to this point. Both of these squads average over 300 ypg through the air and over 200 ypg on the ground... talk about trying to pick your poison. Both teams are also the only two remaining undefeated teams in DIAA and they are a combined 11-0 against top 25 opponents this season.

Prediction: I really want to scream upset alert on this one, both teams have top 5 GUESS ranked rosters and have the talent and depth to compete with anyone. Both coaches are proven veterans and have found great success in GD. Unfortunately I think there's just TOO much talent on one side of the ball here. UNI-36 vs CCSU-23

E-#3 Arkansas Pine Bluff vs W-#10 St. Mary's

Scoring Offense: APB - #4 vs SMU - #13

Scoring Defense: APB - #14 vs SMU - #9

Coach Matchup: nitros (0-2) SchoolyWe

Analysis: A couple of teams who have strength where their opponent appears to be "weaker". Both of these teams tested themselves this season as both have top 25 ranked SOS on the season and have combined for a 13-2 record against top 25 opponents this season. Both teams will be starting SR's at both the QB and starting RB positions and with their similar, heavy passing attack, both positions will be vital in their team's success. These teams like to pass sure but both have backs with 3000+ rushing yards on the season, the get you on your heels and then run it down your throat.

Prediction: This one is a very intriguing matchup. Both coaches have recent NC appearances and in Wilk that is no easy feat. These teams both have GUESS ranked rosters #3 and #4 so talk about even. If either team is going to find success they will have to find a way to open holes in the running game to help take some pressure off of their QBs. APB-34 vs SMU-28
