Players of Week 2

It is week 2 already and we have had some good games . I always call the NC contenders and pretenders this early and I am usually wrong but I think it is safe to say the Cal Golden Bears are already out of the running for the NC title. I hope to be proved wrong but I think it is a wrap for them after their close loss today to Arkansas. It does not get easier for the Bears as they take on UNC in their next game, and UNC is coming off a great win. A come from behind win against a well coached Hawaii team. My money is on the team with all the momentum, so UNC for the W. Enough of that, lets get to what you came here for.

Different players for the overall award but they come from some well coached teams. Teams who are expected to make noise. I know the Aggies had a rough first week but they have the talent to pull through and with Raymond doing his thing, they might have a chance in conference play. We have already talked about UNC and their win today, it came on the back of Mike Heath, so Bears watch out.

The PAC-10 is going to have a problem with the new Stanford coach and the talent he has at his disposal. There were questions about the coach's skill at his last stop but those were answered and I think he wanted to fully put those to rest by bringing his talents out West at D1A. And boy is he just digging a big hole to put those questions to rest. I want to see how he does against the juggernaut that is USC.

Jim White back at it again in week 2. This young man can carry the whole world on his back. He will catch it too if you need him to. Jim has been the best offensive player in the SEC in these opening weeks of the season and I think he might carry his team far. I can see defenses preparing special gameplans just for him.

There are a few games to look forward to: Penn State vs Oklahoma, could be a preview of the NC game. We also have Tennessee with their new coach taking on the Irish, can you believe this is the first meeting between these two coaches. We also have Michigan and Alabama, now that might knock someone out of the running for the NC, these teams have tight conferences packed with great coaches so winning out would be problematic.

Enough of that, lets get back to gameplanning, not sure i it makes a difference. Anyway, until the next time, take it easy.
