Upset Maze

For the first run of the season, we are going to talk about being upset. Now the question is, am I upset or were there game upsets? I think it is safe to say both. We will concentrate on the games. The games we are going to cover are ones I considered upsets, you might disagree and that is okay. Is it too early to already talk about who is out of the running for the national title?

These upsets are upsets in my book and that is why they are going to be covered on this run. The first game we are going to look at is Penn State vs Oklahoma. Now I think everyone knows I always back one of the Maze correspondents blitz. I fully expected him to show up with his boys fired up to tame the Nitty Lions. The lions said nah, not today. Penn State put the hurting on the Sooners, 45 - 9. The lions just went H.A.M on the Sooners. They moved he ball well in the air even with the QBs getting sacked (5 sacks), they kept them upright enough to get a total of 472 yards in the air. The ball was mainly thrown to the RBs especially Paul Rivera, who is a senior and I am sure he has designs of carrying his team to a national title game. Not to be outdone the defense for Penn State kept the Sooners out of the endzone, yes you read that right, blitziscomin did not score a single touchdown in this game. I bet you he has dissected this game every which way from Sunday. He has looked at it from all angles to figure out what happened to his team. I feel bad for who is next on his schedule because I am sure he plans on taking it out on them. CJ you are the next human he faces, so good luck good sir. Now Penn State are right in the mix for the national title, they will need the SOS to hold up for them because their OOC is pretty weak, only blitziscomin in there but the conference play will be interesting as they will face three humans from the other division who are all looking at good starts.

The flu must have really knocked awags out because he ran the ball 35 times today. Yes ladies and gentleman, awags ran the ball, not once, not twice but 35 times today. I know he has a young QB stable but this is awags, I always expect him to throw it and this shocked me today. He mounted an almost great comeback in the fourth but it was not to be. The Wolverines had their claws out and took down the Tide. Michigan won every statistical department, T.O.P, first downs, third down conversion, total yards, turnovers and obviously points. This might be the year to catch awags in a down year so whoever plays him, take advantage because seasons like this do not come around often with awags. So we now know he out of the running for the national title and maybe he might be out of it for the conference title too. Lyonzfan has had enough time to fully pt together his imprint on this program and they are now rolling. Conference title last season and maybe another this year but I am sure he has designs greater than that. I am sure he has designs for the national title but he will have to get through a few tough games, like the next two against, FSU and badaxe along with USC and ez37. That is just to finish out the OOC and when you get into conference play he has the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions, do not forget the guys in his own division. There is a path for the Wolverines but it is a tough path to the national title.

Is it an upset when Georgia loses to Troy State given that mcbethbr is at Troy State? I think it might be because we have a mid major knocking off a BCS team. This is bama2448's first year in Athens and there is talk that he already wants out. Georgia is a tough spot to build a program at. You have a rich recruiting area but there is a lot of competition around you for those recruits and on top of that you have a lot of tough coaches on the other side of the field on game day. My unwarranted advice is stay there and you will do fine in a season or two. Troy State is a program to keep an eye on this season because I see them being in the mix for the single digit ranking spots. They scheduled well and that will help with the SOS and they will stack the Ws as the season goes on. They have been in the teens in the rankings and it is time for a jump in to the single digits.

Now there were two other games I did not expect the result for. We have the Temple vs Miami(FL) game, that went to Temple. Great coach in husker111 and great roster as well but I still expected Miami to come out ahead. Temple shut down the play from the Hurricanes in the send half. The Owls just woke up in the second half and said enough, they roared back from being behind to going ahead and not looking back. Well done Owls. We also had the Gophers taking care of the Seminoles. The also shut them down in the second half and then decided to extend their lead to show their dominance in this game. They did the work on the ground, they ran the ball 65 times in comparison to only 30 pass attempts. Well done Gophers. The ACC elites will need to regroup and comeback strong in their next games.

I think we are going to end it here. Want to ease you back into the Maze and do not want to make it too long. Need to build up to the best Mazes of the season. Hopefully there will be more from myself and our trusted numbers guy blitziscomin, he said he has a good one brewing so keep your ear to the ground on this one. Until the next time, take it easy.
