Jabbering JAG 136.2 (S and D)

We have concluded our non-conf portion of the season. Now the ever important conference slate. There is still a lot to be determined in DIAA and I'm sure things will continue to be fun and interesting. This time we have my annual surprise and disappointment teams so far this season. Again, this isn't meant to offend or call anyone out, just observations. So without further adieu.

Surprises:

Arkansas Pine Bluff – This team is also still in rebuild mode, but not playing like it so far, this season. They are using their top 5 scoring offense and accompanying that by the #2 defense who is giving up barely over 7 pts a game… oh and that’s against a top 20 SOS! The SWAC has some very formidable games for this squad, can they hold on the field? We know nitros will have them ready.

Delaware State – A team who was projected to have 2 losses on the season. They already played those two games and are 5-0. Team is playing impressive on both sides as DSU is in the top 10 in scoring offense and defense against a top 25 SOS. Still some tough games ahead of the Hornets but they are playing every bit the experienced team they’re supposed to be.

Weber State – A very long term Big Sky coach has risen from the bottom and his team is playing very very well so far. This team boasts the #7 SOS and sits in the top 10. Only one loss in their 4 games against humans in OOC. This team is in stride with the media guides and if those hold true then this team has a couple tough ones ahead.

Disappointments:

Duquesne – This team is only here because of the record, not the play on the field. This team is projected to be 3-2 right now but sits at 1-4. This team has been in every single game, they just can’t catch a break this season. This team will figure out the hiccups and will hit their stride.

Alabama A&M – Another first year coach here. This team is projected at 5-0 this season on the media guides. They sit at 3-2 and their two losses were their only human competition. The talent is definitely there to work with. Alabama A&M will have to figure things out quickly as their conference slate starts off very tough.
