Jabbering JAG 131.8 (The Final Four)

Let my just start off by saying I got all final four teams picked correctly and overall in the playoffs I have only picked four games incorrectly (24-4)… who needs gt_deuce's math :P. Next let me say how excited I am for these two games. I think these two matchups are perfectly set up and should create some thrilling score lines and stats. All of these teams are definitely deserving to be here and all of these coaches have been lights out with their gameplans in the playoffs.

All four teams are from different conferences which is always nice. Three of four come from conferences in the top half of the WIS conference rankings (5 or better). A team from one of these conferences in the final four has won the last 32 national titles.

All of these teams have made it this far (or further) at some point with their current coach. All four of these teams bring in top 15 WIS ranked offenses (avg 49+ ppg). They all also boast top 15 WIS ranked defenses (18- ppg). These teams have a combined 18-2 record against top 25 opponents this season.

For one winner it will be a second straight national title appearance and for the other winner it will be the coach's first time competing for the title with their current team.

(N) #1 Texas Southern vs (S) #4 Tennessee Tech

Strength of Schedule:

Rank: TTech #15 - TSU #34

# of Human Opponents: TTech 10 - TSU 8

Offense Ranks:

Points Per Game: TSU #1 - TTech #3

Total Yards: TSU #1 - TTech #3

Defense Ranks:

Points Per Game: TSU #3 - TTech #15

Total Yards: TSU #6 - TTech #23

Prediction: A repeat of last year's national championship game, two stacked rosters with great coaches at the helm. Both teams are deserving of a national title shot. Two pass heavy offenses with stingy defenses. A tough game to call and everyone seems to like Texas Southern this year, can they repeat? I'm picking…….. Uh…….. Mmmm…….. Texas Southern 38-34

(E) #14 Maine vs (W) #10 Texas State

Strength of Schedule:

Rank: UM #83 - TXSt #86

# of Human Opponents: TXSt 10 - UM 7

Offense Ranks:

Points Per Game: UM #4 - TXSt #11

Total Yards: UM #7 - TXSt #20

Defense Ranks:

Points Per Game: TXSt #2 - UM #4

Total Yards: TXSt #1 - UM #16

Prediction: A couple of "underdogs" to make the national title game. Another game that should go down to the wire. Both coaches always have top notch teams and both coaches are starving to get a national title appearance/win. Very stout defenses by both teams here and with the weaker strength of schedules, they will really be put to the test in this one. Give me……. Geez someone give me a coin……… I'm taking Texas State 31-28
