The D2 Volunteer

Hello everyone. This is philfulmer98/tnjay615, I have been playing this game for almost 7 years, 7 long and enjoyable years. But I had started to grow tired of playing this game. Mainly because it was always the same ole same ole. There was never much interaction between the coaches and I would always get my hat handed to me by the same coaches. It never mattered what adjustments I would make certain coaches always had my number. Most of you have the same problems I know! But that part is life, you get up and dust off and try again and again and again. But the lack of interaction made the game boring until I joined Wilkinson. The coaches here are most of the best in the business, no doubt about it. Wilkinson Central is a big part of what makes this game enjoyable. The fact that you have people like Cjsweat and trudevil doing podcast, and justaguy and pete_61 writeing blogs makes it great. I personally cant wait for the media guides to come out. So when I saw they wanted people to write some DII content I jumped at the chance to add my half-cent opinion. Now this is my first writing assignment in 10 plus years so don’t be to hard on me....lol

DII

North

This bracket is full of really good teams making it no cakewalk for anyone, not even the number one overall seed St. Josephs. The lowest ranked team according to Guess is Cheyney at 28. So there will be no easy outs for anyone and should make for some great games in round 1.

The Contenders

[if !supportLists]• [endif]1 Saint Josephs Coached by the great gators06 brings in one of the most impressive lineups ive ever seen. Vega is the forth best QB according to guess. He has more weapons than anyone else in D2 that is for sure. When you have the number 1 WR and TE and can hand it off to the number 2 RB things are pretty nice. All they have to do to win games is put up a couple touchdowns and let their Defense do the rest. Two top 4 DL and 2 top 3 Lbs to go with 4 top 80 DB make it hard to move the ball at all. With that said they have to be the favorites but they will have to prove it.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]2 Valdosta State The only thing you need to say about the Blazers is that they beat Henderson State. That in its self is enough street cred to put them in the contenders category. Columbusbuck did an amazing job with this team, and will be a force for as long as he stays in the Peach State. No real superstars on the roster but they are a really good defense. All I can say is if they make it to the finals against St Joe Id pay to see that game. Would be a classic to see who goes to the final 4.

The Games

[if !supportLists]• [endif]West Chester Coached by stamps will be a formidable challenge for anyone with their balanced offense. They will have their hand full with West Virginia State and Coach harriswb3 in round one. They have one of the best running attacks in D2 led by Craig Miller and his 4275 yards rushing and 46 touchdowns!!!! This game will come down to the passing game and the advantage has to go to the Golden Rams. West Chester 35-31

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Winona State Coached by bigpoppa85 is just gonna try and maul you to death with their workhorse RB Richard Pratt he has over 500 combined touches between catching and running. While Stonehill coached by wareagle389 is going to let QB Joseph Cox control the game. This one could comedown to who has the ball last. I’m going with Stonehill 27-21 in a classic.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Angelo State and coach jfuchs31 will have its hands full in round 1. Expect to see a lot of Louis McCray coming from Valdosta State. If the Rams expect to stay close in this one they will need a big day from Wayne Newman. I think this one could be close for a half but in the end I think VSU will pull away and win 45-24

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Cheyney had a great season led by schoolyme but it could be a short run this playoff season. But if they can keep there balance and get a few breaks they could make this interesting late. Edward Edwards will need to play doubly good to win this one. I see Saint Joesephs winning easy in the end 48-10, they are just that good.

South

This bracket looks to have some real balance and should have quite a few great games in round 1. I don’t see many blowouts in this one. Lowest ranked team on Guess is 33 and the highest is ranked 8th. Should make for a fun week. There are some great coaches in this one.

The contenders

[if !supportLists]• [endif]1 Slippery Rocks' cgreenemax has a great run going and could make a serious run this season. He has some great players and great system. Albert Flores and his 6814 yards and 74 Tds with 0 Ints. That will be hard to stop.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]2 Humboldt State will make a super match-up in the finals for Slippery Rock if they both make it that far. Benzil runs enough to keep you honest and will make it hard to defend. The X factor for this team is Mark Wright. He can control the action on the ground and take the game over.

The games

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Southern Connecticut lead by stixx06 is an all pass attack that can drive you crazy. Richard Robinson can light it up as evidence by his 6500 yards and 70 tds. No Ints means he plays smart. But can the lack of a running game hurt late in a tough matchup? Now Augustana will give you fits no matter who you are. CarolinaBueu knows how to mix it up on you and no lead is ever safe. He will use his QB Robert Stewart and his 4268 yards and 35 touchdowns to perfection. This game will depend on who can play better pass defense. In a high scoring shootout I will take Augustana 42-41

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Findlay vs Texas A&M Kingsville should be another classic. NatiDawg is a great coach, and will be sure to have his game-plan set and ready to go. Donald Moody can play with the best of them. He 5300 yards and 53 TD passes. Add in the 1800plus yards rushing from David Phillips and 25 rushing touchdowns make them a tough pill to swallow. If anyone can stop them its strieffman, his schedule was very difficult and finishing 11-3 while facing 5 playoff teams is very impressive. If he can get some production from Kevin Allen on the ground to help control the clock and take some pressure off QB Grimm this should be one of the best games in all the playoffs. Findlay wins 31-28 on a last second field goal

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Slippery Rock should get a nice test from Adams State. And with a break or two could pull the upset. But those breaks will have to include some turnovers and a kick6 or two. But it will all depend if Steven Brewer can hold on to the ball for JoeDrama819. In the end I see one team out manning the other, The Rock big, 52-17

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Delta State will make for a tough out for Humboldt St. Benzil will have to be sure to have his game plan set or newguy_97 will make this interesting. This one will come down to the Rb Howard Sykes will be hard to stop in the air and Wright will be hard to stop on the ground. After 60 mins I see Humboldt St winning with a late surge. 38-24

West

This bracket is one that has a couple great teams, some good teams, and a couple that have over achieved. This one should be fun to watch. The second and third rounds could be spectacular.

Contenders

[if !supportLists]• [endif]3 Colorado-Mines 0bigzeke0 has a team with 38 upperclassmen. Including 25 Sr’s Every unit is loaded, lead by Curry the number 2 QB on guess. They are a true threat to win it all.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]West Liberty State hypnotoad had a great QB in Short, the #5 rated on guess. Could be a real threat to knock off Mines, and make the final 4

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Millersville Mikesy is the wild-card in this bracket. If he can get the legend James Brown to bogie he could be in the final four.

The games

[if !supportLists]• [endif]WLSC should make short work out of an over matched Mars Hill team. Huskers2010 has done an amazing job this season. The has really out coached his talent and should have his team in the playoffs making noise for seasons to come. WLSC 52-21.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Lock Haven vs Livingstone College albright73 is a heck of a coach who will put together a plan for Livingstone. This game will come down to the passing attack of Lock Haven. If howarddv can slow it down and control the clock he may have a chance. But I think his team just doesn’t have the horses to slow down that vaunted attack. Lock Haven 42-20

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Winston-Salem State vs Tuskegee bigkeithdog is a team that I think can make some noise and make a run to the finals. Texasksa has done a great job this season. Anytime you get the 52nd ranked guess team into the tournament as a 4seed you’ve done awesome. Another year and the talent level at WSSU could be just what the doctor ordered. Tuskegee 31-20

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Colorado-Mines vs Millersville Mikesy needs to have James Brown carry the show. He will need at least 200 yards to get the win. But that Mines D is loaded and lots of upperclassmen means they are clutch. Should be a classic, I have Mines winning a classic 28-27 on a last second TD

East

This region is flat out insane! When you boast the number 2,3,5,6 and 10 ranked guess teams it will make for some great games. Great coaches everywhere! Also it has the lowest rated guess team to make the tournament in Western Oregon coached by enforcer84, getting the 91st most talented team in is a testament to how good of a job he did.

The contenders

[if !supportLists]• [endif]1 South Dakota Jmurphy8587 has a team that is always a threat to win it all. And this season is no different. Most seasons he would be the odds on favorite to win the region but this isn’t most seasons. Very balanced and very deep.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]2 West Virginia Wesleyan slid64er is the GOAT, his team is loaded and his game-plans are top notch. But in this bracket not even the GOAT is an odds on favorite.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]3 Henderson State gt_deuce might be the GOAT 1B, this is his first season at HSU and the team was already loaded and now the maestro is in charge. Round 2 will be worth watching for sure.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]4 Northwood philfulmer98 normally id feel good about my chances with the team I have. In this bracket I hope to make it out of round one. Lately I’ve been working on my game-plans, we will find out how they work very soon.

[if !supportLists]• [endif]5 Tarleton State Roybatty great talent on this team and a formidable system makes them a threat to any team they face.

The games

[if !supportLists]• [endif]South Dakota vs Kentucky State mdodge13 brings in QB George Roberson who has over 4800 yards pass to face a loaded SD team that will be hard to beat. If Jmurphy8587 can get Angel Rodriques and his 4500 yards passing going it could be a long day for K-State. I have SD winning 38-20

[if !supportLists]• [endif]WVWC vs Western Oregon enforcer84 has had a great season in a tough conference And there reward for that great work is to get a date with slid64er and WVWC. I hope i;m wrong but I see this game getting out of hand early WVWC wins big! 63-17

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Henderson State vs Virginia Union lsusaint will need his defense to play out of this world and Milton Fiqueroa to keep up his season pace. He has 4674 yards passing and will need 300+ to keep the season going. But no matter what Virginia Union does on offense if they don’t control Edward Mitchell and his 5761 yards and 73 Tds it wont matter. I see this one being a good one but in the end it will come down to gt_deuce and his game-plans being too much. HSU 45-28

[if !supportLists]• [endif]Northwood vs Tarleton State RoyBatty brings in a team that’s on a roll. They will give philfulmer98 trouble in this one. This one will be fun to watch. George Chamberlain will need to have a big game. They love to work the running backs in the passing game. That can be trouble to most teams. Northwood has a stout defense and has been scoring at 90 point clip for most of the conference season. I think this one will be a great game. 31-24 Northwood
