Jabbering Jag 127.2

As the season gets set to kick off I want to say good luck to everyone! I wanted to take a minute to reflect on how far we have come. Wilkinson was a world that had nothing separating it from the rest. Now we have grown to be the most populated world in WIS! We have such an unprecedented culture in this world and many thanks to all of you and to all who participate in the media. Now to kick things off lets get to some top games to kick off this season!

Miami (FL) vs Tennessee - Two great, tenured coaches with a lot of talent and alot to prove to kick the season off. The winner makes a huge statement. Tennessee is young on the defensive front and backfield but I like their offense better than the Hurricanes. This should be a tight one... Miami - 27 vs Tenn - 24

South Florida vs Navy - These two coaches are really starting to establish themselves at their current gigs. This is an interesting matchup between one of the newest powers in the Big East and one of the best and most consistent mid majors. This will be only the second meeting between these two coaches and allen won the first one but in this one USF hastoo much talent... USF - 33 vs Navy - 14

Washington vs Florida - These two coaches have been pretty consistent in their Wilkinson careers and can get some love but tend to get forgotten as things go along. Both coaches could use a statement win in week one to get some attention. Both teams have solid offenses and will be able to move the ball this season but the separation comes in on the defensive side of the ball... UF - 30 vs Wash - 17

Alabama vs USC - The "new dynasty" faces "old school" in this one. Alabama has had their coach for a very long time and he is a fantastic coach but despite that it has been quite a while since Alabama has been in national title contention consistently. USC on the other hand is a team that is expected to be a "shoe in" into the national title game. A possible trap game?... USC - 33 vs Bama - 21

Howard vs Tennessee Tech - Two fantastic coaches in Wilkinson go head to head here. Mraston is a coach who was getting a lot of praise a few seasons ago but now he is looking to turn a corner and get back in the national title talk. He faces a team who is ALWAYS in the title hunt and will give you their best every time. Looking at the rosters, Howard honestly has some very favorable matchups but can they capitalize against an amazing gameplanner?... TTech - 27 vs Howard - 20

Jax State vs Georgia Southern - This game might be more interesting than many people think. Jax State is a team that is always loaded and they have a great coach but haven't consistently lived up to expectations. GA Southern is a team who is rising and rising quickly and would love to kick the season off with a win to get everyone's attention. I think some of the depth on the defensive side of the ball could hurt the Eagles... Jax St - 31 vs Ga South - 14

Liberty vs Eastern Illinois - A game where a coach plays his former team. Even though it was several seasons ago and a couple teams ago but cjsweat hosts his former team, now under the direction of 1lanceman. Liberty really is looking to get back into the playoff conversation and a win over a coach and team like this definitely could help propel them. Both teams are spotted very nicely with some studs but have youth in some key spots which could make things interesting... EIU - 35 vs Liberty - 24

Alabama A&M vs Villanova - Two teams who been respectable in recent years but doing so pretty quietly. Neither gets a lot of attention from the media but both programs have solid coaches and talent. Nova is looking to get some consistency and get back to playoffs and A&M is looking to build on what they have and actually make a deep playoff run. These programs need wins in games like this as their conference schedules only have a couple of key games to help their strength of schedule and seeding... A&M - 28 vs Nova - 20
