Division II Roundup - Vol 2.

What The Hell Happened?

WVWU QB David Alexander threw for 314 yds and 2 TDs to lead West Virginia Wesleyan past

Northwood 27-20. This was a back and forth contest between two Division II powers. The 4th quarter was the difference as the Bobcats outscored the Timberwolves 14-3 in the final session. Thomas Haywood was the goat for Northwood, missing two field goals. The Bobcat defense was also stout, limiting Sr QB John Lange to 49.0 pct completion percentage and only 206 yds through the air.

Virginia Union made the most of their long drives to defeat West Georgia 38-23. VU scored 5 TD’s while stalling out enough West Ga drives to limit them to 4 FG attempts. West Georgia’s Christopher Pearson controlled the ground, amassing 229 yards on the ground and found the end zone once. James Richardson grappled a key interception in the first quarter, stalling out a West Ga drive.

Edinboro’s Lee Johnson found Stephen Christopher open and Christopher took the catch 5 yards to the end zone to lead the Fighting Scots to victory over Valdosta State on the road. It appeared that the Blaze had snatched victory when Jason Crowe found Gerald Murray for a 37 yard TD with 5:34 left, but a clutch Edinboro drive snatched victory from VSU’s hands. Michael Parks led the Scots ground game with 113 yards on the ground and another 33 through the air to lead the attack for Edinboro.
